Hi crafty friends, hope you are all doing well. I have been having so much fun creating halloween cards with the awesome new Tim Holtz’s release. I received quite a few DM’s on this one. Since I never took pics of the original one that Tim showed on his live I had to re-do it and as everything they never turn out exactly the same :). Hope you don’t mind.
I started off with the bats. I sprayed a light mist of water and black soot onto leather cardstock. I did 2 layers of the black soot, drying in between and die cut the bats using Bat Crazy Sizzix 66403.
For the panel I used Distress Heavystock. I cut out an 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 piece for the background. I used a piece of sticky grid on the back of the largest circle from the Moon mask. Placed it on the top right side of the cardstock.
Using my splat box I start spraying the card stock. I always start with a mist of water. The sprays I used starting from the top were Distress spray black soot, pumice stone, prize ribbon ( I did not use this on the last card), wilted violet in oxide and spray, rusty hinge in oxide and spray and the last one spiced marmalade. I dried the panel after the first coat, and went back in with few more coats always drying in between. I did a total of 3 layers. After I dried the last coat I splattered the panel with water to create some texture. I did it a few times drying in between.
With the Moon circle still on I added ink splatters using the Halloween collection of mica sprays and Dina Wakley acrylic white spray. ( I think I may have overdone the splatters on this panel..lol) Either leave it to dry on its own or with a heat tool I tend to go with the heat tool only because I am inpatient. š
I put on the moon stencil onto the panel and inked it using hickory smoke archival ink. I used archival because I still wanted to spritz the panel with water to wick the ink into the moon and didnāt want that portion moving.
Using Brutus Monroe Alabaster fine white embossing powder I embossed I Put a Spell On You sentiment from the super fun Bold Brights stamp set.
To finish off the card I I trimmed the panel down a bit to show a white border from the card base. I added eyes and some highlights on the bats using a white gel pen. Popped up the panel onto fun foam and a 110 Neenah white card base.
