Happy Monday friends! todays Simon Says Stamp STAMPtemper collaboration stamp set is with Whimsy Stamps. I had so much fun creating witht the adorable Just Chicken In set. So many cute little images.
I began with a Distress watercolor panel cut into an A2 size. I used the solid circle from the new Moon mask set from Tim Holtz to mask off a portion where I wanted the sun. For this card I used the texture side of the card stock and used the saran wrap technique for the first two layers of distress ink. The colors I used were mowed lawn, old paper, a little bit of rustic wilderness , tumbled glass, salty ocean and little bit of chipped sapphire. After each layer I dried with my heat tool. I usually end up doing about 4-5 layers drying in between each until I get the look I want.
After the panel was dry I pulled off the circle and went in with my blender brush and created the sun using mustard seed, wild honey and a bit of fossolized amber. I did make sure to go into the bleu to create a bit of a glow. I splattered the panel with water and dried it using my flour sack cloth..this is really my favorite to use in my craft room. Very light material and doesn’t absorb too much.
I pulled out an older Whimsy Stamp set I had in my stash called Attempted Murder (seriously what an awesome name…lol) I stamped the fence out on Distress woodgrain cardstock and the branch out on Distress heavy stock using black soot archival ink. I watercolored them using distress colors walnut stain, vintage photo and antique linen. Highlighted some spots with a white gel pen and using walnut stain crayon went around the edges and smudged it in using my finger. I fussy cut the fence and branch and used an xacto knife to cut out the inside pieces of the fencing. Really didn’t take too long. Added foam tape to both pieces for added dimension.
Using some of my favorite copic colors I colored up the adorable images from the Just Chicken in set. Highlighted some spots with my white gel pen. Pulled out a sentiment that inspired the entire card hangin with my peeps and emobssed it using SSS black cardstock and Brutus Monroe Ultra Fine Alabaster embossing powder.
Now assembly time…this is really my favortite part. Unfortuantely sometimes when creating an idea comes up after I’ve put things together and in this case I really wanted to add splatters but forgot to do it before the fence and branch were put on. I added the splatters carefully not adding them on the fence or branch and had to walk away so that it was able to dry. I couldn’t add heat to it, wasn’t sure what would happen to the foam tape.
Part of me wishes that I had done another piece of fencing so that I was able to cover the entire panel. Next time š
To finish off the card I used the distress tool to rough up the edges ( I used to use scissors but find this works so much better) and popped up the panel on fun foam and a piece of 110 lb Neenah card base. Love the way this turned out. Hope you liked the step by step.
